WHCA Awards Ceremony
NCO of the Year

Michael was recognized as the Outstanding Noncommissioned Officer of the year for the White House Communications Agency.  His parents, Grandmother, Aunt Shirley, Aunt Jean and Uncle Ron, and father and mother in law, Michael and Colleen Weening, all came out to DC for the awards ceremony.  The guest speaker for this ceremony was the White House Chief of Staff, Andrew Card.

There were four Awardees recognized at the ceremony. Outstanding Officer of the year: Capt. McDaniel, Outstanding Senior NCO of the year: MSgt Fletcher, Outstanding NCO of the year: SSgt Rutherford, and Outstanding Enlisted Person of the year: SrA Strate. Note this is a joint command and the Air Force swept the awards this year!! Air Power!!

Grace also went to the ceremony and although most of it was boring for her, she got very excited when she saw Michael on stage receiving his award and yelled out, "That's my Daddy!".  The entire room started laughing and Michael had to break his Military bearing for a little smile. Even Andrew Card smiled. It was too cute!
